Electro-polishing is a method of finishing metal surfaces. It is a process in which a metal product suspended in an electrolytic cell is used as an anode and electrolyzed under specific conditions. The anode metal is dissolved to eliminate the fine unevenness on the product surface and give it a mirror-like glossy appearance.
Electro-polishing can also remove certain mechanical damage on the metal surface. Compared with mechanical polishing, the surface after electropolishing is stress-free. However, it is not suitable to directly electropolish a surface that is too rough.
Post-processing process of electrolytic polishing
(1) Water washing: After removing the stainless steel product from the electrolyte, rinse it with clean water immediately to remove the residual electrolyte and impurities on the surface
(2) Passivation: Place the stainless steel product in the passivation solution to improve its corrosion resistance and surface quality. The passivation solution generally uses a solution containing an oxidant and nitric acid
(3) Water washing: Rinse again with clean water to remove the residual passivation solution and impurities
(4) Drying: Dry the stainless steel products to remove the residual moisture and solvent on the surface. Drying generally uses hot air drying or oven drying.
Advantages
(1) The color inside and outside are consistent, the gloss lasts long, and the concave areas that cannot be polished by mechanical polishing can also be leveled.
(2) High production efficiency.
(3) Increase the corrosion resistance of the workpiece surface, suitable for all stainless steel materials.
Applicable industries: semiconductor industry, liquid crystal industry, pharmaceutical industry, instrument system, compressed air, ultra-high purity gas, chemical system, WFI system, and other high-purity and ultra-high purity gas pipeline systems or clean room or equipment.
